Nadine Finigan-Carr, Ph.D., is a prevention research scientist whose work explores how behavioral and social forces shape some of today’s most urgent public health challenges, particularly those affecting communities of color. An internationally recognized expert on minor human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and community violence, she has authored dozens of scholarly articles and the book Linking Health and Education for African American Students’ Success (Routledge).
The Waterman’s Daughter marks her debut as a novelist, bringing her lifelong commitment to justice, healing, and community into the realm of story. Dr. Finigan-Carr imagines, and writes toward, a world in which Black women are free to live fully, boldly, and authentically, every minute of every day.
