Getting There

The Baltimore Book Festival takes place right in the heart of beautiful Waverly, on 30th Street, 31st Street, and 32nd Street, between Greenmount Avenue and Barclay Street.

Waverly is a residential neighborhood, without a lot of parking lots, so we advise utilizing public transportation, ride shares, carpooling, biking and walking, to avoid traffic and parking overload in the neighborhood!

For locals:

Bus: CityLink Red goes right there, Green or Silver drop you nearby, with a walk

Charm City Circulator: Purple Line – Free! Drops you nearby, with a one block walk

Car/Car Service/Taxi: You can use 3128 Greenmount Avenue (Red Emma’s) or 401 E 30th Street (Peabody Heights Brewery) as navigation addresses! The Festival runs between those two businesses.

For visitors to the city:

Transportation to/in Baltimore: https://baltimore.org/plan/transportation/

Airport: BWI is the closest airport approximately 20-30 minutes from the festival – the easiest option from BWI is rideshare or taxi, but there are also Light Rail options and Amtrak options.

Light Rail: The closest stop is “Woodberry” but it’s still a long walk from there, so you would likely want to take a rideshare from there.

Train: Amtrak & MARC stop at Baltimore Penn Station. 10 minute rideshare or taxi from the station, or hop on the FREE Charm City Circulator Purple Route, which runs directly from Penn Station to 29th and Greenmount, one block from the start of the Festival.

Hotel: Our Book Festival Hotel is The Study at Johns Hopkins

As the official hotel sponsor of the Baltimore Book Festival, The Study at Johns Hopkins is a favorite with readers and writers alike and a perfect home base for a literary weekend—just a half mile from the Waverly festival grounds and keynote events in historic Charles Village. Festival attendees can enjoy a special overnight rate at The Study with promo code BKFEST26.

Throughout the weekend, look for The Study’s booth at the festival and stop by the hotel’s tavern, Dear Charles, for a drink or bite between events. Sunday, September 20 at 11:00 AM, catch a live panel discussion at The Study featuring the co-authors of Information Sick, published by Johns Hopkins University Press and featuring faculty authors from JHU’s Bloomberg School of Public Health.
