The Tinklers
The Tinklers, Charles Brohawn and Chris Mason, have been singing songs, telling stories, making books, and painting paintings since 1979. They had 3 albums on Shimmy Disc in the late 80’s/ early 90’s and a CD from Serious Records. Their songs were played on All Things Considered as interstitial commentary in the early 90’s. Their paintings were sold at galleries in New York City and Richmond, Virginia. They recorded a CD with the members of Half Japanese. Their book The Elements was published by Shattered Wig Books. This year, Rollo Press, located in Paris and Zurich, has published a large volume collection of 5 Tinkler books from the early 80’s, including The History of the World, The Tinklers Songs and Charts, Home by the River, Our Childrens Childrens Worlds, and The Tinklers Encyclopedia. The Tinklers can be heard every summer at the Shakemore Festival. In all their work they promote a kind, joyous world with an unimaginable diversity of beings and an end to the tyranny of the rich and powerful.
