Oleander Black Zine Fair
The Oleander Black Zine Fair is a marketplace showcasing contemporary zine-makers whose work extends the rich, radical history of Black self-publishing and print media production. Alongside popular zines from across the Mid-Atlantic, the exhibition features new works by members of Oleander School for Negro Publishers, a 10-week summer school developed to sharpen the craft of Baltimore’s Black artists, organizers and cultural workers through the process of zine-making. With a potent line-up of original projects, the Oleander Black Zine fair realizes literacy as a method of political struggle that, like the oleander bush, can be applied as either poison or antidote amidst a climate of fascism, environmental crisis and state violence.
